Ritika Bhattacharjee is a Bengali-American composer, producer, pianist, orchestrator, conductor, and mezzo-soprano based in Austin, Texas. Her work spans musical theatre, choral and symphonic music, commercial media, dance, video games, and artist-driven releases. Equally at home in the concert hall, recording studio, and theatrical space, she creates music that bridges contemporary classical traditions with storytelling, technology, improvisation, and popular music production.
In 2026, Bhattacharjee was commissioned by Panoramic Voices for SXSW, and her original musical The Bench received the Best of the Festival Award at FronteraFest. She is also the recipient of the 2027 SoCo Bluebonnet Composition Initiative, recognizing emerging voices in composition and new music. Her artist project, Stellar Remnants, is distributed by The Orchard (Sony Music Entertainment) and available on all major streaming platforms.
Recent projects include conducting her original video game score live at SXSW 2025, conducting the Socrates Symphony Orchestra during a masterclass with Eduardo Portal in Manchester, UK, and orchestrating music for the HPE Summer Keynote at Sphere in Las Vegas. As a producer and mixing engineer, Bhattacharjee has trained with acclaimed engineers Jon Castelli (Billie Eilish, SZA) at Rue Boyer Studios in Paris, Dan Pfeiffer (Jacob Collier), and Tom Lord-Alge (Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy). These experiences inform an artistic voice that freely moves between orchestral writing, vocal music, pop, electronic production, and commercial recording.
A versatile performer and educator, Bhattacharjee was invited to serve as the Musical Director and American delegate for the international ensemble at IMPRO Amsterdam 2025 and as a teaching artist for The Big Sing 2025 Festival in Barcelona. She has conducted the European Recording Orchestra at the Bulgarian National Radio Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has pursued conducting studies internationally through masterclasses with leading educators and ensembles.
As a vocalist, she has performed with Austin Cantorum, Inversion Ensemble, Da Capo Ensemble, and Panoramic Voices. She has also been a commissioned composer by organizations including Panoramic Voices, See Change Treble Chorus (Minneapolis), Austin Cantorum, KMFA for SXSW programming, and Performa/Dance Company. Bhattacharjee's unusual trajectory into music began in chemical engineering. While studying at Texas A&M University, she founded and served as president of Ingeniare, the university's all-engineering choir, and led Binomial Rhapsody, an ensemble known for creating music derived from mathematical equations. Beyond performance, she worked as a voice-over assistant for the Texas A&M College of Engineering's distance learning program, served as a teaching assistant, wrote for the engineering publication Ingenium and the satire magazine The Mugdown, and became the first student host of the College of Engineering's official podcast, SoundBytes.
Her engineering career included research with a NASA-affiliated lithium-ion battery combustion laboratory, where she first-authored a publication on thermodynamic catastrophic failure models. She later worked as an R&D food engineer for PepsiCo Frito-Lay and in technical sales within the industrial gas and specialty chemicals industry before transitioning fully into professional music and composition.
Bhattacharjee earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Performance Studies from Texas A&M University, a Graduate Diploma in Film Scoring from the Film Scoring Academy of Europe, and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Music Interdisciplinary Studies at Berklee College of Music. She is signed with Graphite Publishing, where her choral compositions are available for purchase.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys inline skating, hot air ballooning, playing tabla, electric bass, piano, and spending time with her two kittens.
